I am again Marcia Martin Ensley. I said again because this is my second published work. My interest and desire, at this time, is to understand the why of death. Death is a phenomenon. It is forever with us. It does not ask for our permission; and we dont, for the most part, welcome it. Death represents an absence to life, yet death is always present with us. The National Center for Health Statistics report that there are millions of deaths a year. Why? Sure, someone probably had a heart attack; someone had AIDS, cancer or perhaps an accident in a vehicle. But still, WHY? As a pastor, I have attended many funerals and have been at the bedside with family members whose loved ones died. During those times, my heart is saddened. If I knew them personally, I am saddened that they are gone. If I didnt know them personally, I am saddened when I see the tears and grief of loved ones left behind. Of course, as a pastor, the loss is great because that loss represents a sheep gone from the fold. God, for me, is all knowing and all powerful. Why doesnt God just step in and stop death? Why does it seem death wins? Stay tuned. The pages to follow will address these questions.
Deepak Chopra has touched millions of readers by demystifying our deepest spiritual concerns while retaining their poetry and wonder. Now he turns to the most profound mystery: What happens after we die? Is this one question we were not meant to answer, a riddle whose solution the universe keeps to itself? Chopra tells us there is abundant evidence that “the world beyond” is not separated from this world by an impassable wall; in fact, a single reality embraces all worlds, all times and places. At the end of our lives we “cross over” into a new phase of the same soul journey we are on right this minute. In Life After Death, Chopra draws on cutting-edge scientific discoveries and the great wisdom traditions to provide a map of the afterlife. It’s a fascinating journey into many levels of consciousness. But far more important is his urgent message: Who you meet in the afterlife and what you experience there reflect your present beliefs, expectations, and level of awareness. In the here and now you can shape what happens after you die. By bringing the afterlife into the present moment, Life After Death opens up an immense new area of creativity. Ultimately there is no division between life and death—there is only one continuous creative project. Chopra invites us to become cocreators in this subtle realm, and as we come to understand the one reality, we shed our irrational fears and step into a numinous sense of wonder and personal power. From the Hardcover edition.

Life is a journey of living and dying, of new birth, and of burying the dead. Living is a gift from above because we cannot add to its value even though we can subtract from it. Death on the other hand is a loss of life as we know it, and we can never take back from it. What I knew as my life is no longer there; in its stead, a new person emerged. The purpose that I thought was for my life no longer exists, and through my divorce, a cocoon has been broken, and the caterpillar became a butterfly.

This wise, humorous and highly entertaining book brings compassion, pithiness and excellent practical suggestions to the vital task of advising widows how to make themselves merry despite having lost the love of their life. After all, as Mary Essinger points out here in 'How to be a Merry Widow'... 'Look on the positive side, no shirts to iron for a start. Rejoice in your independence. You can do exactly as you like; paint the house pink, invite your chain-smoking brother to stay or relocate to anywhere on the planet. Consider the good things about being alone. For the first time in your life you are free. Spoil yourself; spend his money on chocolate and taxis. You're worth it. Remove yourself from the place of loneliness, your home. Plan at least one social event every day and plan outings to look forward to. Unless you are dying, staying in all day is a bad idea and will make you morose. You may have demanding things to do in the home but go out at least for some part of the day. Too cold? Wear three coats but go out. Raining? Big umbrella but go out. Not feeling too good? Try fresh air and a walk. Fight any temptation to hide away feeling sorry for yourself.' Ultimately, Mary urges widows to follow her advice because their dear departed one would want them to be happy. As she says: 'I wrote "How to be a Merry Widow" because it's great to be cheerful and widows should support each other. Being a widow has a positive side and the purpose of this book is to tell you about it.'

My Life After Death begins on the tragic day when Erik Medhus took his own life. He personally walks us through the experience of dying, transitioning into spirit form, and reveals a detailed look at the life awaiting us on the other side. In this intimate and provocative memoir, crucial questions will finally be answered, including: What does it feel like to die? What is it like to become a spirit? Why and how do spirits communicate with the living? Is there a heaven? From that day forward, their lives would never be the same.
THERE ARE FEW SUBJECTS IN HUMAN THOUGHT THAT RAISE SUCH STRONG EMOTIONS AS THE AFTERLIFE. What if anything, awaits us after we leave this physical world? Are we reincarnated to try to "get it right" through another life? Do we simply vanish? Do we enter some state of bliss or torment based on our good deeds or lack of them? It seems that there is no end of conjecture offered by human religion and philosophy on this subject. Yet, most of this seems to be nothing more than baseless speculation. As we have no evidence (indeed, we cannot have any physical evidence) of what becomes of us after our physical death, it appears that we have no choice but to pick the idea that is most appealing to us and go with it. It is true enough that we will ultimately pick the idea of the afterlife that we choose to believe to be correct, yet this is a matter of sufficiently great importance to warrant our choosing wisely. The source of information we choose to accept as the correct depiction of the afterlife is one of the most critical decisions we will ever make. While this will ultimately be a matter of belief, we owe it to ourselves to make our choice based on what these sources actually say and not on what we think they say or what others tell us they say. This book is presented as a look at the Bible's teaching on the subject of the afterlife and the choices available to us for an existence after this present life is over. The findings presented in this book are at considerable variance with the teachings of traditional institutional Christian church doctrine and dogma. It is the author's hope that the points presented here will give the reader a different perspective of the biblical view of life, death and afterlife.
