Die folgende Arbeit beschaftigt sich mit der Raum- und Zeitstruktur dieses Stuckes. Als Primarliteratur dient die 1985 erschienene Ausgabe von The Alchemist. Als theoretische Grundlage fur diese Untersuchung beziehe ich mich auf Manfred Pfisters Das Drama. Der erste Teil befasst sich mit der zeitgenossischen Buhne, dem realen raumlichen Kontext und dem fiktiven Schauplatz von The Alchemist. Des Weiteren soll die Raumstruktur innerhalb des Stuckes analysiert werden. Dabei werde ich mich an Pfisters Terminologie und Einteilungsmethodik orientieren. Der zweite Teil befasst sich mit den raumlichen Lokalisierungstechniken und der Konkretisierung der Chronologie, sowie der Zeitstruktur innerhalb des Stuckes und der Semantisierung der Zeit. Den Schlussteil bildet die Zusammenfassung der Ergebnisse und deren Auswertung in Hinblick auf die Anwendbarkeit von Pfisters Terminologie. Der folgende Abschnitt befasst sich mit der historischen Buhne zur Zeit Ben Jonsons.
